Patrick J. Plues

Patrick J. Plues serves as the Vice President of State Government Affairs at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization since December 2013, where responsibility includes directing healthcare-related state government affairs and executing a comprehensive relations strategy across all fifty states to foster a positive environment for the biopharmaceutical industry. Prior to this role, Patrick was the Principal at Plues Strategies, LLC, facilitating partnerships and political activities for clients, and held the position of Director of Federal Government Affairs at Cephalon, overseeing federal legislative and policy strategies. Throughout a career spanning over two decades, Patrick has also held leadership roles at Wyeth, focusing on constituency relations and public affairs, and began as a Staff Assistant to U.S. Representative Bob Wise, where tasks involved monitoring legislation and advising on trade and appropriations. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from West Virginia University.
