Designer

Location: Glasgow-based Studio/Hybrid

Term: 1 Year Contract

We are looking for a creative and skilled Game Designer to join our team and help shape the future of our games. Based in our Glasgow studio (hybrid options available), you’ll focus on designing fun, innovative games that bring players together in unique and engaging ways. Collaborating with programmers, artists, and writers, you’ll craft experiences that blend gameplay with storytelling, ensuring every mechanic feels intuitive, rewarding, and full of discovery. This role requires a balance of technical knowledge, creative vision, and a passion for detective and adventure genres. Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate on multiplayer mini-games that emphasize collaboration, competition, and mystery-solving.
  • Develop and maintain detailed game design documents, including rules, mechanics, and user flows.
  • Work closely with artists, programmers, and other designers to integrate your work seamlessly into the overarching game experience.
  • Prototype and refine gameplay ideas using industry-standard tools.
  • Ensure gameplay is fun, accessible, and replayable, catering to players of all skill levels.
  • Collaborate with QA to test and refine designs, addressing balance and usability concerns.
  • Incorporate feedback from team members and playtesters to improve game mechanics and player experience.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in game design, with a focus on multiplayer, party games or adventure games development as a plus.

  • Strong understanding of mystery, detective, and adventure game genres.

  • Proficiency in prototyping tools (e.g., Unity, Unreal, or similar) and design software.

  • Excellent grasp of game mechanics, systems, and player engagement strategies.

  • Ability to design with both technical and creative considerations in mind.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

Nice-to-Have

  • One or more shipped titles working as part of a close knit team of developers.

  • Experience with co-op or competitive multiplayer games.

  • Familiarity with mobile and tablet-friendly design principles and accessibility features.

  • Passion for detective fiction, or interactive storytelling.

  • Technical skills in scripting or light programming (e.g., C#, Blueprint, Lua).
