Brian Holland has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. In 1998, they began working as an Independent Consultant on Workforce/Economic Development & Education Issues on a self-employed basis. From 2004 to 2007, they served as an Appointed Member of the Alexandria-Arlington Workforce Investment Board. In 2005, they joined Deloitte as a Senior Manager, specializing in Training Benefits until 2007.

Starting in 2009, Brian became a Visiting Fellow at the Urban Institute, focusing on labor, human services, population, and metropolitan housing and communities. In 2011, they held two positions simultaneously: Senior Manager/Senior Research Associate for the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG) Program at JBS International, and Adjunct Lecturer of Introduction to Global Business at Johns Hopkins University's Carey Business School.

Brian's career continued at various organizations such as the Town of Brentwood, where they worked as the Town Administrator (Town Manager) from 2013 to 2014. Brian then served as the (Executive) Director of the National Workforce Development Agency of the Cayman Islands from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, they joined the DC Department of Employment Services as the Deputy Director of Workforce Development until 2017.

Currently, Brian works at BLH Technologies, Inc. as the Training & Technical Assistance Manager, a position they have held since August 2017.

Brian Holland has a diverse education background. In 2004, they attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an invited participant at the Fulbright Summer Institute on Regional Economic Development, earning a certificate. From 1988 to 1990, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Urban Planning at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation. Brian also attended Columbia | SIPA during the same period and obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a concentration in Urban Policy. Brian's undergraduate education took place from 1983 to 1987 at New York University, where they graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Politics.
