He has been with Blucora, the parent company of Avantax Wealth Management, since the beginning of the firm’s journey in wealth management. Todd was a key architect of the company’s acquisition of HD Vest, a business he subsequently led. He further enhanced the wealth management business’ growth by helping guide the acquisition and integration of 1st Global, creating the largest independent broker dealer focused on tax professionals and their wealth management practices. In addition, Todd continued building upon the tax-focused wealth management strategy with the acquisition of HK Financial Services, which has become the employee-based corporate RIA that provides comprehensive wealth management services to accounting firms and CPAs across the country.

A popular and proven business partner to the community of Avantax Financial Professionals and CPA Affiliate firms, Todd’s leadership as president of Avantax Wealth Management is welcomed as a true industry leader to all of the Financial Professionals, tax professionals, accounting firms and clients he serves through a razor-sharp focus on technology, product and operations. Todd has spent nearly 30 years focusing on growing businesses within the financial services and financial technology industry.

Prior to his tenure with Blucora and Avantax, Todd co-founded P2B Investor, a crowdfunding business providing working capital loans to small- and medium-sized businesses. He served as Executive Vice President with E*TRADE Financial, where his leadership helped increase company revenue from $300 million to more than $2.5 billion; here, he held various executive roles including overseeing its multi-billion-dollar RIA and its Asian operations. Todd also held various executive positions with Telebanc Financial Corp, Robertson Stephens, and Alex Brown focusing on financial institutions and financial technologies. He received an A.B. from Princeton University in economics with an emphasis in mathematics.
