Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a VP, Sales, to join our growing team! The VP, Sales, must be dynamic, a strategic thinker, a great listener, can learn to anticipate our customers’ needs, and will be expected to develop a deep connection with our customers. This is a highly strategic and important role which requires building and managing relationships while embedding with our customers to ensure both parties enhance and boost the relationship.

The VP, Sales, will be responsible for understanding our customer’s needs and building a relationship supporting true collaboration on Gigawatts of opportunity over many years. They'll remain engaged in the bid process to ensure we meet our customer's strategic considerations, schedule, and deliverables.

The VP, Sales, will safeguard our customers’ needs accurately and punctually. This individual will not simply be seeking RFPs; they’ll be pursuing strategic opportunities that guarantee the mutual success of PRE and our customers. It's a dynamic and collaborative role that's much more than a standard BD function. The right person requires knowledge of the financing, development, scheduling, technical, and contracting strategies that produce winning Solar projects. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Promote the services of BRP to new and existing customers, decision-makers, and influencers within the Renewable industry.
  • Build key customer relationships in targeted areas, identify project opportunities with our Strategic Customers, and pursue such work to secure backlog for the company.
  • Research and gather information on potential customers and projects in nationwide emerging markets.
  • Continue to develop and maintain a strong business network within the Renewables community.
  • Participate in Customer organization by regulating scheduling in-person meetings and attending workshops and other collaborative opportunities as needed.
  • Work with the Proposal Manager and Estimating staff to develop proposals. Work with the Preconstruction team from the RFP (or bid request) to start construction. 
  • Work with our Marketing Team to develop presentations. 
  • Develop effective differentiators and negotiation strategies and understand all key commercial and legal issues.
  • Consult and align with corporate functions such as treasury, tax, legal, and risk throughout the sales pursuit.

  • Travel to attend to business-related matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must-Haves:

  • 15-20+ years of EPC sales experience.
  • Experience in the utility-scale solar/ renewable energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of the renewables (solar) industry terminology and delivery methods.
  • Ability and willingness to learn the business of construction and learn how we build work and support our customers’ needs.
  • Positive and great attitude, be curious, energetic, and opportunistic.
  • Willingness to learn our customers' processes, and preferences, and know them internally.
  • Excellent people and communication skills.
  • The ability to work well within a team.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Persistent with the ability to follow up and drive success.
  • Generate partnering opportunities; design-build, value engineering efforts and create solutions for the project approach.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and other databases. 

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Strong technical skills within the Solar PV industry.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or equivalent is required.  

Working Environment and Physical Demand:

  • This position can be remote, preferably within comfortable travel distance of one of our BRP office locations in Asheville or Fayetteville, NC.
  • Travel up to 20% to our BRP offices and business meetings.
  • The position works in an office environment.
  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer for extended periods.
  • May require lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds.
