About the Opportunity

We are searching for a Sr. Engineering Manager to join our R&D team. As a fast growing early-stage startup, our ability to predictably deliver on strategic projects that solve customer problems is key to success. As a technically sound people manager, we'll look to you to grow the talent of the engineering team while refining best practices.

Simply put, managers are responsible for two things: Results and Retention.

Role Expectations 

  • Foster a culture of inclusion, excellence, and learning from within the Engineering team; ensure that Blumira is a great place to be
  • Conduct regular 1-1s, coach team members, share clear and actionable feedback, and guide professional development; ensure that Blumira is a great place to be from
  • Drive results through your team members by managing their workload and performance; providing technical guidance and direction to teams and individuals; set your team up for success
  • Align and support engineers throughout the development lifecycle, including participating in strategic objective identification, technical planning, documentation, and code reviews; help the team deliver value
  • Make certain that our codebase and practices are ready to scale to meet the needs of the business; are we working on solving hard and meaningful problems?
  • Participate in organizational planning to inform the business where to make investments; are we ready for the next phase of growth?
  • Execute on hiring and onboarding of new engineers to effectively grow the team and department;  enable great first impressions
  • Encourage quality craftsmanship; deliver products to be proud of
  • Enhance engineering effectiveness by working across departments; play well in the sandbox
  • Focus the team on customers directly instead of in the abstract; customers are our best collaborators

About You

  • 5+ years of leading successful delivery of software development projects and teams
  • You possess a highly driven and entrepreneurial personality, with an ability to get stuff done
  • You have a sharp mind and eye for detail, and can show others what great looks like
  • You are comfortable initiating and managing change and work effectively and efficiently with your team
  • You're interested in helping to build your team and processes to make the business succeed
  • Quality of character including a desire and willingness to help guide others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with peers

Salary: $160,000 - $190,000
