James Oakes

James Oakes has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. James began their career in the U.S. Navy in 1972, serving in various operational and staff assignments until 1995. During their time in the Navy, they achieved the rank of First Class Petty Officer and served on submarines. Following their military service, Oakes took on administrative and leadership roles in different organizations. James worked as an Administrative Officer on the USS INDEPENDENCE (CV62) in Yokosuka, Japan from 1995 to 1998. James later served as Officer in Charge of the Personnel Support Detachment in Washington DC from 1998 to 2000, where they led and managed a team responsible for military pay and personnel requirements. Oakes also held significant positions in the U.S. Navy, including serving as the Flag Secretary to the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and as the Commanding Officer of the Navy Recruiting District in Pittsburgh, PA. James also worked at LMI as a Senior Consultant in Organizational Improvement. In 2015, Oakes joined Blumont, Inc., first as the Director of Human Resources and later as the Vice President of Global Talent Management. James retired in September 2018.

James Oakes attended the University of Maryland Global Campus from 1994 to 2001. James obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science with a focus on Paralegal Studies.
