Riccardo Giovannini

Riccardo Giovannini is a seasoned professional in medicinal chemistry with extensive experience in leadership roles across various companies. Currently serving as Medicinal Chemistry Director at Boheringer Ingelheim since January 2015, Riccardo manages a team and oversees the operating budget while driving research projects in lead identification and optimization. Prior to this role, Riccardo was the Managing Director at BI Research Italia, where significant contributions were made in identifying 11 pre-clinical candidates, particularly in the neuroscience field. Earlier experiences include serving as the Head of the Chemistry Research Centre at Boehringer-Ingelheim Italia, along with positions at GlaxoSmithKline, where leadership in research projects and the design of CNS-active new chemical entities were key responsibilities. Riccardo holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the University of Camerino, enhancing a strong educational foundation in chemistry and organic chemistry.
