Anica Butler is a deputy editor in the Globe’s news department. In addition to helping orchestrate the department’s news coverage, she edits stories about immigration and consumerism. Previously, she has worked with the Globe Spotlight Team on the 2016 mental health series and edited the Globe’s criminal justice coverage. Prior to coming to the Globe in 2011, Butler worked at the Baltimore Sun as the crime and courts editor, a multimedia editor, and before that, as a reporter. She has also worked at the the Los Angeles Times, the Hartford Courant, and the Tallahassee Democrat. Raised in Texas, she is a graduate of Florida A&M University.
