Margaret Phillips

Bassoon/contrabassoon at Boston Philharmonic Orchestra

Margaret Phillips is a highly experienced music professional, currently serving as a Lecturer in Music at Boston University since September 2015. Additionally, Phillips has been an Instructor for Bassoon and Contrabassoon at The Boston Conservatory since September 2013 and holds the position of Associate Professor of Bassoon at Berklee College of Music since September 1998. Performance roles include long-standing commitments as Bassoon/Contrabassoon with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School, the Portland Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, all beginning in September 1995. An extra/sub for the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1993, Phillips was also the Principal Bassoon for Opera Boston from September 2000 until its closure in January 2012 and participated as a bassoonist in the New Hampshire Music Festival from 1989 to 2012. Phillips earned a Master of Music in Performance from Boston University and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Michigan.
