Joe Caldwell has a wide range of experience in the field of disability policy and research. Joe began their career in 2005 as a Policy Analyst at the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, where they worked until 2009. From 2009 to 2010, they served as a Disability Policy Fellow at the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation. In 2010, they joined the National Council on Aging as the Director of Long-Term Services and Supports Policy, a position they held until 2018. Since 2018, they have been working as the Director of Community Living Policy Center and Senior Scientist at Brandeis University. Additionally, they have also held a role as an Adjunct Assistant Research Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 2006.
Joe Caldwell earned their Ph.D. in Disability Studies from the University of Illinois Chicago from 1999 to 2005.
