Laura Shoots has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Laura started as a Staff Emergency Physician at Midcentral District Health Board in 2017. Later, they worked at Brant Community Healthcare System, holding various positions including Staff Emergency Medicine Physician, President, and Vice President of the Medical Staff Association, and Emergency Department Quality Improvement Director. Currently, they serve as the McMaster University Grand Erie Six Nations Family Medicine InQuiry Leader.
Laura Shoots completed their Bachelor of Health Sciences (Hon) at McMaster University from 2004 to 2008. Laura then went on to earn their Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Ottawa from 2009 to 2013. Next, they pursued a CCFP in Family Medicine at Queen's University from 2013 to 2015, followed by a CCFP-Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa from 2015 to 2016. Most recently, they obtained their Master's of Science in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto from 2019 to 2020.
