Brass Lion Entertainment is seeking an Online Programmer to join our team currently working on a new, unannounced Action-Role Playing Game (Consoles, PC) with an anime art style.

Reporting to and sharing responsiblities with the Lead Online Programmer, the right candidate for this position will be responsible for implementing and supporting our game online features. You will work in collaboration with developers to ensure our players have a smooth multiplayer experience that lives up to high industry standards and to the quality of our game content.

We have adapted to a fully remote working structure, with our team members contributing from New York City, Montréal, and sixteen other locations across Canada and the United States.

Responsibilities 

  • Integrate first party online functionalities in our game (ex: match making, telemetry) 
  • Guide game designers in live content management 
  • Follow best practices for online security 
  • Use online service API to build the backend for our player progression storage 
  • Optimize network bandwidth use 
  • Define our client-server networking architecture 
  • Develop release management tools for designers and QA 
  • Maintain and troubleshoot live site issues for the development team 

Required Qualifications 

  • Proven experience in developing and optimizing network code in C++ 
  • Experience with Online Services APIs (GameSparks, Playfab or others) 
  • Experience working with first party online services (PSN and/or Xbox Live) 
  • Experience working on a multiplayer game
  • Located and authorized for work in the US or Canada

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Unreal Engine networking 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Salary Transparency: The standard base pay range for this role is CDN$100,000 - CDN$130,000 Annual (USD$110,000 - USD$150,000). Please note that actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
