Lidya Makonnen

Lidya Makonnen possesses extensive experience in strategy, operations, and communications, currently serving as Senior Manager at Breakthrough Energy since January 2021, with previous roles including Manager of Strategy and Operations for both Communications and Creative and Content. Prior to Breakthrough Energy, Lidya worked at Gates Ventures as a Program Associate in Advocacy and Government Relations and held the position of Outreach Director at the United States Senate. Additional experience includes serving as Scheduling Director for the Lt. Governor and Director of Strategy and Operations for the Young Women's Initiative of Minnesota within the Office of Governor Mark Dayton. Lidya's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Minnesota, earned in 2015.
