Andrew Shortreid

Andrew originally joined BridgePoint in April 2019 as the principal executive responsible for investor relations and capital raising before being appointed Chief Financial Officer in January 2020. His financial markets career includes over 15 years of senior leadership positions across the private equity, wealth management and alternative investment industries.

Prior to joining BridgePoint, Andrew was President of Aventine Asset Management, an investment partnership and hedge fund firm he founded in 2009. In this role he held ultimate responsibility for all operational, financial and investment activities, while also overseeing all external stakeholder relationships. A passionate student of global capital markets, Andrew established a track record as a superior financial strategist, risk manager and resource allocator, and was nominated in multiple categories at the Canadian Hedge Fund Awards in both 2017 and 2018.

As Chief Financial Officer at BridgePoint, Andrew is responsible for providing organizational leadership on all financial activities at the firm and empowering the strategic and operational decision-making capabilities of the executive team. A creative problem-solver with strong communication skills Andrew’s core finance focus is supported by extensive experience in asset structuring, fund operations, risk analytics and regulatory compliance systems.

Andrew attended the Chinese University of Hong Kong and graduated in 2001 from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Commerce in International Finance. He became a CFA Charterholder in 2004 and was elected President of CFA Victoria in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He was a member of the Board of Advisors of the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria from 2007 until he relocated to Toronto in 2013.
