Senior Technical Artist, Procedural Technology & Simulation

The Senior Technical Artist  will help innovate Brightline’s new and growing product ecosystem that leverages groundbreaking spatial computing and AI capabilities. This role is focused on bridging the gap between design and development by working closely with designers, engineers, product managers and other cross-functional teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible in Spatial Computing.  Your primary responsibility is to create and implement tools, pipelines and workflows that enable the realization of creative visions while also maintaining optimal performance across VR, AR and 2D screen modalities. 

This person should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Digital Arts and/or 8+ years experience in technical art and should have a passion for product development. This role involves frequent communication with leadership to help define pipeline and workflow standards, and will work on a team of 6-8 fellow developers.  

Technology Capabilities and Experience 

  • Experience building resilient asset pipelines to take LiDAR and photogrammetry 3D scan data through to usable in-game assets with a high level of automation

  • Experience working with GLSL and HLSL shaders

  • Strong understanding of key 3D graphics principles and foundational knowledge of 3D modeling workflows in major tools such as: Houdini, Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, etc.

  • Strong awareness of how to design highly performant assets targeted for AR/VR platforms.

  • Experience creating editor tools and reusable widgets to allow artists and nontechnical users to manipulate and author 3D environments

  • Experience with Python and/or C++

  • Unreal Engine tech art pipelines (materials creation, writing shaders, particle VFX, lighting)

  • Some Experience using 3D CAD design tools (including Revit, SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or similar tools)

  • Experience providing guidance to other developers and artists, and driving technical art standards across the team

Directly applicable skills (not required but preferred):  

  • USD (OpenUSD) Authoring,  developing with layers, scene composition, variants, etc.)

  • NVIDIA Omniverse (OpenUSD connectors and pipelines)

  • Deep interest in 2D to 3D AI pipelines such as NeRF and Gaussian Splatting

  • Experience using Houdini (Digital Assets, Vex, Python)

  • Experience with PCG workflows in Unreal Engine and/or Houdini
