Theo Loo

Theo Loo has worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Brightline since November 2021. Prior to this role, from May 2021 to November 2021, they worked as an Epidemiologist II at the County of San Diego. In this position, they developed a program to detect K12 COVID outbreaks, resulting in a 67% increase in outbreak identification and the strategic deployment of case investigators.

From September 2018 to May 2021, Theo worked as a Research Manager at ClearCost Health. Their responsibilities included designing clinical studies for a digital mindfulness intervention for people with HIV, which led to a reduction in depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Theo also developed longitudinal studies to evaluate drug KPIs for newly FDA-approved drugs.

Prior to their work at ClearCost Health, Theo served as a Graduate Student Instructor and Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley from 2016 to 2018.

From January 2015 to August 2016, they worked as a Program Manager at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, managing the statewide arboviral disease surveillance system data pipeline. Their work led to the discovery of a novel bacteria causing severe Lyme disease symptoms.

Theo's earliest work experience was as a Researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from January 2014 to August 2016. In this position, they created a synthetic-RNA HIV diagnostic test and investigated the viability of intrathoracic injection for genetically modified mosquitoes.

Theo Loo completed a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology and Global Health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Theo then pursued a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. Theo's education history includes studying at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2012 to 2016 and at the University of California, Berkeley from 2016 to 2018.
