Sarah Squire has a diverse work history spanning over two decades. Sarah currently serves as the Head of Knowledge, Research, and Policy at The Butterfly Foundation. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Women's Research, Advocacy, and Policy Centre at Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand from 2018 to 2020. In their role, they led research, policy advocacy, program evaluations, and supported program design to address poverty, disadvantage, and gender inequality.
From 2013 to 2018, Sarah worked at Beyond Blue, where they first served as a Program Leader, Families, and later as a Project Manager leading the development and evaluation of the national Stop. Think. Respect. Campaign, with a specific focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Before their time at Beyond Blue, they held the position of Director at the Violence Prevention Coordination Unit in the Department of Family and Community Services (NSW) from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they were the Manager of the Women's Policy Development Unit at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (NSW) from 2009 to 2011.
Sarah also has experience working in policy and research roles at the Australian Human Rights Commission, where they served as a Senior Policy and Research Officer from 2007 to 2008 and a Policy and Research Officer from 2004 to 2007.
Additionally, they worked as an Adviser and Graduate Administrative Assistant at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet from 2003 to 2004. Sarah started their career as a Coordinator at Macquarie University Union in 2001 and also worked as a Sessional Lecturer and Tutor at La Trobe University from 1998 to 2000.

Sarah Squire obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Women's Studies from La Trobe University from 1993 to 1996. Sarah then pursued a PhD in Women's Studies at the same university from 1997 to 2003.
