Role overview:

The Projects Manager works across our national studios to provide expertise and guidance to our project leaders. The role is dynamic and part of our new projects stream, led by the Projects Director. The role provides the opportunity to work with teams on the exciting range of project across BVN, supporting their success and our architectural legacy.
You will collaborate with project leaders, supporting them to implement effective project management practices on projects. You will bring expertise in planning and guiding the work of teams, and a holistic view of the expertise that can be leveraged from across BVN. You will need to engage with project leaders from the initiation of their projects, enabling them to articulate the design and documentation methodology needed for success, and influence other project stakeholders.

By working with project leaders across BVN, you will be able to consider the evolving operations of the practice and identify gaps in project leadership, management, technical oversight, and knowledge sharing. In response to those needs, you and the projects stream will develop and deliver of tools, processes, and training, helping BVN to continuously improve and deliver remarkable design solutions. 

Role responsibilities:

Projects system

• Contribute to the understanding of project leadership, management, technical oversight, and knowledge sharing that influence practice operations.
• Participate in the alignment of project management tools, processes, and skills with the other streams of expertise in the practice.
Projects management stream
• Collaborate with project leaders to implement project management practices across all types of BVN projects including:
• establishing project requirements on all new projects covering scope, goals, programs, and team structure
• participating in identification of risks to project progress and teams
• identifying resourcing and skills needs
• managing project finance, scope, and communications
• identifying, articulating, and managing project variations
• ensuring quality assurance processes are upheld across the team
• negotiation and resolution of issues with clients
• building and maintaining rapport with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

• Directly support projects with billable project management work from time to time.
• Facilitate meetings, reviews, and workshops during the project life cycle to measure and improve project management practices and enable knowledge sharing across BVN.
• Drive the implementation of tools and processes that enable project management competencies.
Projects leadership development
• Contribute to identifying gaps in project leadership, management, technical oversight, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of training solutions to develop project leadership skills.
• Provide inductions and training to new project leaders and ongoing coaching for developing project leaders.
Role capabilities:

• Strong grasp of design principles, including the integration of functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability into designs.
• Previous experience working within an architectural firm or on commissioned projects is essential, demonstrating familiarity with industry-specific dynamics that influence project delivery, teams, relationships, and outcomes.
• Understanding of contractual requirements and the methods of communicating them for architectural projects.
• Proven ability to define and validate timeframes, budgets, and scope, in all phases architectural projects, including schematic design, design development, and construction documentation, to enable effective project and team management.
• Vision, drive and communication skills that enable our people to do their best work and realise exceptional architectural projects.
