Felix Muerdter

Director at CajalNeuro

Felix Muerdter has worked in a variety of roles in the field of neuroscience since 2006. In 2006, they were an Undergraduate Student and Research Assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, where they worked on the genetic basis of flowering time in Arabidopsis thaliana and fish husbandry for a large scale mutagenesis screen in zebrafish. From 2009 to 2014, they were a Graduate and Master Student at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where they studied the genetic basis of genome defense pathways in fruit flies and small RNA biogenesis in fruit flies. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology, where they worked on transcriptional regulation in human cancer cells using massively parallel reporter assays, CRISPR genome engineering and next-generation sequencing. Since 2018, they have been a Scientist at Regeneron. In 2020, they were promoted to Director and Associate Director at Cajal Neuroscience.

Felix Muerdter earned a Dr. rer. nat in Molecular Biology from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory & University of Tübingen in 2014. Prior to this, they obtained a Master's degree / Diplom in Biology from University of Tübingen in 2009. In 2019, Felix Muerdter obtained certifications in Convolutional Neural Networks, Machine Learning, and Neural Networks and Deep Learning from Coursera.
