Patrick Stephens has over 19 years of experience in the software engineering field. In 2002, they began their career as a Software Engineer at Thales Underwater Systems. In this role, they were responsible for developing sonar system applications for the Royal Navy, specifically designing and implementing data fusion algorithms in C++ and Ada95. In 2005, they moved to EMCC Software in a Software Engineer role. Here, they worked on various projects to provide comprehensive software support. From 2007 to 2017, Patrick worked for Thales UK, where they went from a Software Engineer to a Digital Platform Product Line Architect. Patrick acted as the technical lead of an agile team, providing a common infrastructure platform and Middleware layer. Then, in 2021, Patrick was a Senior Software Engineer at Couchbase and then at Calyptia Inc., where they wore many hats but mainly worked on backend and infrastructure. At Calyptia, they also acted as a developer advocate to ensure their products solved a real need.

Patrick Stephens obtained a Bachelor of Engineering Honours with a 2:1, specializing in Computer Science, from the University of York between 1999 and 2002. Patrick attended Colchester Royal Grammar School from 1992-1999. Additionally, Stephens has several certifications, most recently acquiring Google Cloud Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure from Google Cloud Skills Boost in March 2022. Other certifications include a FluentCon Program Committee Member Badge from The Linux Foundation in June 2021, CentOS Fundamentals from The Linux Foundation in August 2020, Oracle Certified Professional Java from Oracle in January 2013, CKA: Certified Kubernetes Administrator from The Linux Foundation in September 2020, and Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) from CNCF [Cloud Native Computing Foundation] in September 2020.
