James Burch

James Burch has worked at two companies in chronological order. From 2019 to 2021, they were a Trainee Patent Attorney at Marks & Clerk. There, they assisted with patent matters in various fields, drafted and prosecuted patent applications, and advised clients on intellectual property usage. James also passed professional exams in UK Patent Law, English Law, and International Patent Law. From 2021 to the present, James is a Principal Engineer at Cambridge Consultants. In this role, they lead and contributes to projects focused on complex engineering challenges in photonics and optics, particularly in the realm of medical devices and systems engineering. James'swork includes projects involving photonic integrated circuits, computational imaging, and optimization and validation of machine vision systems.

James Burch completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics from the University of St Andrews from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, they pursued their Bachelor's degree in Physics, a Master of Physics (integrated MPhys), from the University of York from 2011 to 2015. During their undergraduate studies, they also spent a period at UC San Diego from 2013 to 2014, where they gained further expertise in Physics.
