Jörg Schmitt

Jörg Schmitt has a wealth of experience in the field of operations and management. Jörg began their career in 1999 as a Research Scientist at the University of Cologne, where they focused on software engineering and project management for an ESA space mission. In 2004, they moved to INSENTIS, where they worked as a Management Consultant and was responsible for a business segment within the company. In 2006, they co-founded and managed a life sciences company, targeting on knowledge transfer from science to markets, and was responsible for development and implementation of marketing and sales strategies, as well as sourcing of manufacturing. In 2008, they became Innovationmanager & International Operations at medisana GmbH. From 2009 to 2021, they were VP Operations EMEA at QIAGEN. From 2018 to 2021, they were a Member of the Maryland Tech Council, where they supported member companies who were driving innovation through advocacy, education, workforce development, cost savings and connecting entrepreneurial minds. Most recently, they were Head of Manufacturing & Supply Chain at Oxford Immunotec from 2021 to 2023 and is currently Head of Global Manufacturing Operations at Cambridge Epigenetix.

Jörg Schmitt completed their PhD in Space Physics and Geophysics at the University of Cologne in 2003. Prior to that, they earned their Diplom in Geophysics from the same university in 1998.
