Lidia Prieto Lafuente, PhD

Lidia Prieto Lafuente, PhD has a varied work experience. Lidia began their career as a Research Assistant at the Universidad de Cantabria in 2000. In 2002, they moved to the University of Edinburgh as a Research Assistant and PhD Student, where they planned and executed lab experiments and assays, performed data analysis with Excel and Prism Software, and reported results at weekly lab meetings, departmental seminars, and international conferences. In 2007, they became a Lead R&D Scientist at Lab901, where they co-designed and was the technical lead for the development of a new automated protein analysis assay and associated instrumentation, as well as a project grant application. In 2011, they joined Agilent Technologies as a Project Manager and Senior R&D Scientist, working collaboratively across three locations in Europe and the USA to expand the company's product portfolio. In 2017, they took a career break and travelled across New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, the south of Spain, and Portugal. In 2018, they were a Linguistic Consultant at Chenope, where they provided consultation during the implementation of a Spanish knowledge base in the area of Human Capital Management and used proprietary software for sentiment analysis and NLTK library for NLP analysis with Python. In 2020, they joined LumiraDx as a Senior Scientist (R&D) and CL3 Scientist (Molecular). Most recently, in 2022, they became a Staff Scientist at Cambridge Epigenetix.

Lidia Prieto Lafuente began their education in 1994 at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1999. Lidia then went on to pursue a PhD in Biology at The University of Edinburgh, which they completed in 2007. In 2015, they obtained a PRINCE2 Foundation certificate in Project Management and a PRINCE2 Practitioner certificate in Project Management from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Most recently, they completed a degree in BigData and Analytics from datahack school in 2020.
