Software Engineer at Cambridge Epigenetix

Nicola Wong has been working in the software engineering and development field since 2014. Nicola began their career as a Student Staff at the Union of UEA Students in 2014. In 2016, they joined Bertram Group as a Trainee Java Developer, where they gained experience in Java SE8, Spring Framework, Web MVC, maven, puppet, bootstrap, angular, javascript, HTML, and CSS. Nicola also completed a Pivotal Spring Course and obtained ISTQB Foundation Tester Certification.

In 2018, Nicola Wong joined BT as a Research Specialist in AI Modelling. Her analytic projects included optimising workforce scheduling, job allocation and rostering, modelling household broadband usage for predictions through algorithmic based simulation models, supported by a full-stack solution for demonstration. Her tech stack included Java, Python, SQL, Springboot, JavaScript, React, Angular, AngularJS, HTML, and CSS. Nicola was also knowledgeable in Docker, MongoDB, and CI/CD. Nicola authored and presented a short paper on discrete-event based simulation on field operations at the 10th Simulation Workshop 2020, organised by the Operational Research Society.

In 2021, Nicola Wong joined Cambridge Epigenetix as a Software Engineer and Insight Robotics Ltd. as a Software Developer - Artificial Intelligence Modelling. Nicola is currently working in both roles.

Nicola Wong studied at Sacred Heart Canossian College from 2007 to 2013, where they earned their Hong Kong Diploma Of Secondary Education in Chinese, English, Mathematics, Liberal Studies, and Biology. Nicola then attended the University of East Anglia from 2013 to 2016, where they earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science. In 2017, they obtained a Certified Tester Foundation Level from the ISTQB - International Software Testing Qualifications Board.
