In 2005, they completed a Professional Development Certificate Program in The Essentials of Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Managers at Southern Methodist University.

In addition to their formal education, Steve holds multiple certifications. Steve W obtained the Business Intelligence Design Certified certification from RealPage, Inc. in March 2018. In August 2017, they earned the certifications of Housing Compliance Manager - Enterprise Income Verification (HCM-EIV) and Housing Compliance Manager - Tax Credit Basics (HCM-TCB) from Zeffert & Associates. Steve also holds the Novogradac Property Compliance Certificate (NPCC) from Novogradac & Company LLP, obtained in July 2015.

Steve W received the Housing Compliance Manager for HOME Programs (HCM-HF) certification from Zeffert & Associates in May 2014, followed by the Housing Compliance Manager for HUD Programs (HCM-H) certification in February 2014. Steve achieved the Credential for Green Property Management™ (CGPM™) from NAHMA - The National Affordable Housing Management Association in November 2013 and became a CPM® Candidate Member of the Institute of Real Estate Management in October 2012.

In 2012, Steve obtained the Housing Compliance Manager for RD Programs (HCM-R) certification from Zeffert & Associates and the Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) certification from the National Association of Home Builders, both in April and January, respectively. Earlier, in October 2010, they received the Series 66 and Series 7 certifications from FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority).

In November 2007, Steve earned the Certified Housing Asset Manager™ (CHAM) certification from NeighborWorks America, and in December 2004, they obtained the Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) certification from the National Apartment Association. Steve W became a Nonprofit Housing Management Specialist through NeighborWorks America in September 2003, the same month they achieved the Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) certification from the National Center for Housing Management. Lastly, in April 2003, they obtained the Certified Credit Compliance Professional (C18P) certification from Spectrum Seminars Inc.
