Carter’s Manito-wish experience began in the Summer Camp program as a Near Souther. He spent five summers in Summer Camp, one summer as an Outpost participant, and one in the Leadership Adventure pilot program. His journey continued on Staff, working as a Tripping Co-leader, however, did not return to Staff until five years later. Instead, his path led him to the military, serving in the Army as an active-duty paratrooper around the world. After the military he went back to school, attending college at Gustavus Adolphus during the year, and his summers back here at Manito-wish in roles such as Counselor, Riflery Instructor, Kitchen Assistant, Logistics Director, and Waterfront Director. After graduating college with a BA in History and a minor in Studio Art, he worked year-round at Camp for three years, which included: Fall Leadership Facilitator, Camp Recruiter, Maintenance Assistant, Program Staff Director, and Outpost Leader. Finally, his journey has led him back to where it all started at Manito-wish, the Summer Camp Program.
