Cheryl Oishi, CPHR PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Cheryl began their career in education with the Calgary Board of Education, where they served as an Educator from 1986 to 1997. Cheryl later took on leadership roles within the board, including Site Manager and Learning and Development Manager.

In 2006, Cheryl transitioned to the private sector and joined Compton Petroleum Corporation as a Project Coordinator. Cheryl eventually worked their way up to the role of Director of Human Resources & Administration, where they managed the HR and administrative functions of the company.

In 2013, Cheryl returned to the Calgary Board of Education as the Vice President of Human Resources, overseeing the HR department. After two years in this role, they joined Canada Diagnostic Centres as the Director of Human Resources. In 2018, they were promoted to the position of Chief Personnel Officer, where they currently serve.

Cheryl began their education at the University of Calgary, where they obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree in Special Education from 1979 to 1983. This provided their with a solid foundation in education and teaching.

Continuing their educational journey, Cheryl pursued a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Reading Instruction at the University of Calgary from 1988 to 1991. This specialized degree allowed their to develop expertise in teaching reading skills.

In 1991, Cheryl Oishi achieved a significant milestone by completing their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Multiculturalism from the University of Calgary. This doctoral degree showcases their deep understanding and research in the area of multiculturalism.

To enhance their skills in human resources management, Cheryl pursued a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Calgary's Faculty of Continuing Education starting in 2008. This certificate program provided their with knowledge and expertise in various HR practices.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, Cheryl has obtained several certifications. In 2008, they became a Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) through the Institute of Professional Management. Moreover, in 2009, Cheryl obtained the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation from the Human Resources Institute of Alberta.
