Senior Scientist, Protein chemistry/CMC at Cantargia

Gabriel Svensson Birkedal has over 15 years of experience in the field of protein chemistry and CMC. Gabriel began their career in 2005 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Lund University, Department of Experimental Medical Science, where they conducted functional and biochemical studies on the proteoglycan human glypican-1. Gabriel also taught medical students during this time. In 2013, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow at Lund University, Department of Clinical Sciences-Lund. In 2017, they accepted a position as a Scientist at Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi) via Dfind Science and Engineering, where they worked on analytical development for investigation of protein drug candidates with a technical focus on mass spectrometry. In 2019, they joined Cantargia AB as a Senior Scientist, Protein chemistry/CMC, where they are responsible for project management of antibody development and CMC, including antibody humanization, cell-line development, upstream and downstream process development, qualification/validation of analytical methods and GMP manufacturing. Gabriel also provides technical expertise in manufacturability assessment, analytical method qualification, extended protein characterization, forced degradation studies, and CMC regulatory writing.

Gabriel Svensson Birkedal's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medical Science from Lund University, Department of Experimental Medical Science from 2005 to 2011, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biomedicine from Lund University, Faculty of Medicine from 2000 to 2004, and a period of study in Biomedicine at Lund Biomedical and Biomolecular Research School from 2003 to 2004.
