Kevin Leibel

Kevin Leibel, CFA has a strong background in energy trading and analysis. Kevin started their career as an Analyst at BP Canada Energy Company in 2005 and worked there until 2011. During their time at BP, Kevin gained experience in the energy industry.

In 2011, Kevin joined Capital Power as a Real Time Power Trader on the East Desk. Kevin was responsible for coordinating dispatch for natural gas generators in the ISONE power market and managing virtual positions and inter-regional power flows. Kevin held this role until November 2013.

From December 2013 to January 2016, Kevin served as a Real Time Power Trader on the West Desk at Capital Power. In this role, they managed dispatch strategies for a significant amount of generation in the Alberta power market and oversaw physical power flows between different power markets.

In February 2016, Kevin transitioned to the role of Senior Analyst - Energy Marketing at Capital Power. Kevin was responsible for coordinating all aspects of the customer service experience for both retail and wholesale customers, including proposal delivery, pricing products, contract development, negotiation, and closing. Kevin also supported special projects related to the impacts of the Alberta Climate Leadership Plan on the electricity market.

Most recently, Kevin held the position of Trader - US Environmental Products at Capital Power. Kevin was responsible for strategy and execution in trading various US environmental products across multiple markets. Kevin managed RECs generated from renewable assets in multiple states and played a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
