Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, the Senior Business Development Representative will be the “sharp tip of the spear”, responsible for growing our revenue pipeline, iterating and updating our prospecting strategy, and supporting the sales team in achieving the company’s ambitious targets. They will typically be the first person our customers meet, so it’s vitally important that they are a natural communicator, passionate about our world, and wants to help drive change. They will also be part of our founding commercial team, so we expect thai person to be driven both by personal results and also invigorated by the idea of contributing to the foundation of the business, helping us iterate on strategy, and one day leading their own part of CarbonChain.

This position is for someone who has the ability to handle an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment, ramp up very fast on the technology and the climate regulation market, and help direct the company’s efforts given your regular contact with prospects & customers. They crucially need to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations and thrive on making great decisions quickly.

We need a driven Business Development Representative who has proven Software-as-a-Service experience, a successful track record of developing and executing strategies and managing early interactions with prospects, and the experience of working in a start-up. We need someone who is so smart and ambitious that they need to be held back, not pushed forward. Experience in the sustainability/climate tech industry is a plus, but not required.

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Be an active collaborator in helping us design, build and scale our initial outbound 1:1 and 1:few strategy as we take our world-beating product to market
  • Conduct market research and segmentation to uncover needs and behaviors, prioritize promotion channels, narratives and resources to leverage in close collaboration with the marketing lead within each industry vertical or business segment.
  • Plan and drive engagement with our best fit soon-to-be-customers, owning the customer engagement through the top part of the sales funnel
  • Relentlessly use outbound sales techniques (calling, emailing, social media) to engage these potential buyers on a 1:1 and 1:few basis
  • Own a 7-figure pipeline target, trusted to deliver high quality revenue opportunities to our Account Executives.
  • Facilitate a positive, customer-obsessed experience throughout all team and customer collaborations.
  • Stay apprised of new information relating to industry trends and customer pain points
  • Implement metrics and KPIs that map to the customer journey and obsess over data quality to help us drive progress through excellent decision making. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to ensure a competitive edge in the market.

Desired Background & Experience

  • Experience in crushing individual targets in a high performance organization
  • At least 9 months of experience as a BDR in an established tech company
  • Proven comfort in developing pipeline through written, social, and verbal communication
  • Excellent research skills and a data-first mindset with excellent data hygiene. 
  • Obsession with climate and awareness of the challenges created by carbon emissions
  • Be a highly driven team player, comfortable working in a fast paced environment
  • Have a strategic mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ambition to be excellent and have a high-growth career
  • Willingness to travel if needed

Preferred, but not essential:

  • Experience selling to traditional businesses (manufacturing, energy, construction etc.)
  • Additional language capabilities (German and/or French preferred)
  • Experience working in climate/greentech organizations
  • Experience using MEDD(PP)IC(C) sales methodology and value selling framework
