Michael Bethune

Michael Bethune is a seasoned professional in the field of immunotherapy with extensive experience in CAR-T cell therapies. Currently serving as Senior Director of Discovery Research at CARGO Therapeutics since April 2021, Michael leads early discovery research and pre-clinical development for next-generation therapies. Prior to this role, Michael worked as Senior Principal Scientist at Allogene Therapeutics from February 2019 to March 2021, where significant innovations in CAR-T technology were developed. Michael has also made contributions as a Consultant and Principal Investigator at PACT Pharma, focusing on early product development and personalized T cell immunotherapies. With a solid academic background including a Postdoctoral Scholar position at the California Institute of Technology and a graduate student role at Stanford University School of Medicine in Biochemistry, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field.
