Shawna Howard, MPH, CD(DONA), is a dedicated public health professional with extensive experience in maternal and child health. Currently serving as Program Manager for Outreach & Engagement at the Black Women's Health Imperative since June 2024 and as Patient Recruitment Coordinator and Birth Doula for the LEADoula Program, Shawna has also taken on the role of Postpartum Doula at Carolina Birth and Wellness. Previous positions include Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, Merck for Mothers Summer Associate at Merck, and Care Advocate II at Maven Clinic. Shawna's early career involved roles such as Information Technology Healthcare Fellow at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Birth & Postpartum Doula at the Caribbean Women's Health Association. Shawna's educational background includes a Master of Public Health from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Women's Studies from Spelman College.
