Álvaro Bachiller Hurtado has over thirteen years of work experience. In 2007, they were a Becario at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. In 2013, they were a Peón Especialista at FCC Environmental. In 2014, they were a Becario en Prácticas at Jesgar Jardinería, S.L., where they obtained and digitalized dasometric and botanic data, and created maps with Autocad and a spreadsheet database. In 2015, they were an Ingeniero Superior en Prácticas at Zumain Ingenieros, where they worked on photogrammetric flights with unmanned aerial vehicles and terrain measurement and mapping for a 43-hectare inventory with a robotic total station and GPS. Álvaro was also a Becario de Colaboración at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and an Instructor at Piensa Piensa. Since 2016, they have been working at the Instituto Geográfico Nacional - Centro Nacional de Información Geográfica, where they have been involved in research and development of vector tile services, creation of WMS and WMTS services, integration into the Spanish Spatial Data Infrastructure team, implementation and development of INSPIRE services within the IDEE framework, review and report of IGN's INSPIRE services, maintenance of the IDEE portal, and presenting at various conferences. Finally, in 2020, they became a Senior Support Engineer and then a Support Engineer at CARTO.

Álvaro Bachiller Hurtado has a diverse educational background. Álvaro started their studies in 2003, when they enrolled in an Engineering degree in Forestry at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. In 2008, they completed a course in Autocad for Topographic Surveying with Total Station and GPS (RTK). In 2010-2011, they completed a Master's degree in Forestry at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. In 2012, they completed a Master's degree in Geodesy and Cartography at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, as well as a course in Fire Defense Against Forest Fires. In 2015, they completed a course in Technologies On Board of RPAS at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Currently, they are enrolled in a Degree in Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D. and is expected to graduate in 2024. Additionally, they have obtained two certifications: a course in Webmapping Applications Development from MappingGIS in April 2019, and a course in PostGIS 2 from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) in December 2016.
