Li Ern Chen, MD MSCS has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. They currently serve as the Chief Population Health Officer at Catalight, where they are responsible for leading population health initiatives and positively impacting the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Prior to joining Catalight, Li Ern Chen worked at ChenMed, where they held various positions including CMO, Hospital & Community Care, VP, Clinical Strategy & Efficiency, and Medical Director, Network & Transitional Care. In these roles, they focused on improving care delivery, analyzing data to identify strategic opportunities, and implementing clinical cost containment strategies. Li Ern Chen also has experience as a Senior Healthcare Consultant, partnering with healthcare industry stakeholders to drive best practices and program improvement. They have held leadership positions at Mercy and Baylor Scott & White Health, where they focused on patient safety, standardization of processes, and advancing care delivery. They also served as the Founding Director of the Clinical Pathways Program at Children's Medical Center, where they implemented EHR clinical decision support criteria to reduce variation in care quality. Li Ern Chen started their career as an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Li Ern Chen, MD MSCS has an extensive and varied education history. In 1999, they began their medical studies at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where they obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in 2003. Following this, they completed their residency in General Surgery at the same institution from 2003 to 2008.

In 2010, Chen pursued a Master of Science (Clinical Sciences) at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, which they completed in 2013. Li Ern then undertook a Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin & Children's Hospital of Wisconsin from 2008 to 2010.

In addition to their medical education, Chen has also pursued additional certifications to expand their knowledge and skills. Li Ern obtained a Graduate Finance Certificate from the Southern Methodist University - Cox School of Business in 2016. Furthermore, they hold certifications in Pediatric Surgery from the American Board of Surgery, obtained in 2011, and in General Surgery from the same institution, acquired in 2009.

Prior to their medical studies, Chen earned a Bachelor's Degree in Neurobiopsychology from Washington University in St. Louis in 1999. Li Ern also attended Raffles Institution from 1994 to 1995 and Raffles Girls' School from 1990 to 1993, although no specific degrees or fields of study are provided for these periods.

Chen has continued to update their skills and knowledge with additional certifications. In 2019, they completed the course "Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy" at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
