Software Engineer at Catalytic Data Science

Alex Jacobs has worked in the software engineering, data science, and research fields since 2013. In 2013, they were a Project Management Intern at Wabtec Corporation. From 2014 to 2015, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant with the Charleston Computational Genomics Group at the College of Charleston. In 2015, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant with the Anderson Data Science Research Lab, where they studied restricted Boltzmann machines and deep belief networks to classify over 30,000 images of galaxies into three categories. Alex was awarded the Award of Merritt at the College of Charleston School of Science and Mathematics Research Poster Session and Computer Science Department poster winner. In 2016, they were a Data Scientist I at LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD. Since 2018, they have been a Software Engineer at Catalytic Data Science, where they work on a team of life scientists and software engineers to provide researchers with the best digital tools and networking them with colleagues.

Alex Jacobs attended Eastside High School prior to 2012. From 2012 to 2016, they attended the College of Charleston and earned a degree in Data Science. In 2014, they also participated in a study abroad program at the University of Groningen.
