Niro Fernando

Niro Fernando has extensive work experience in the field of virtualization and cloud platform engineering. Niro started their career as a Bank Assistant at Sampath Bank in 1999. Niro then transitioned into the technology sector, working as a NOC Administrator at AES from 2003 to 2006. Niro later held the role of Datacenter Systems Engineer at AES from 2006 to 2011.

In 2012, Niro joined Apple Federal Credit Union as a VMware Virtualization Specialist. Niro also worked as a Senior Systems Administrator at SRA International during the same time period. From 2013 to 2015, Niro served as a Virtualization Engineer and Principal Engineer at Virtustream, where they focused on software service delivery. Niro then took on the role of Senior Delivery Specialist at Virtustream from 2015 to 2017.

Niro's experience with cloud platform engineering includes a role as a Virtualization Engineer at Hexaware Technologies from 2020 to 2021, and a position as a Virtualization Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology from 2020 to 2021. At General Dynamics, they also supported the FDIC's VMware infrastructure.

Most recently, Niro worked as a Cloud Platform Engineer at The AES Corporation from 2022 to 2023. Niro is currently employed at Caveonix as a Senior Systems Engineer, starting in 2023. Throughout their career, Niro has gained expertise in designing, deploying, and managing VMware vSphere and cloud platform infrastructures, with a focus on virtualization and software service delivery.

Niro Fernando obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Software Engineering from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, which they attended from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they attended Liberty University for one year from 2000 to 2001, studying Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Niro obtained the VMware Certified Professional 5 - Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV) certification from VMware in November 2012.
