Barbara Gress has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Barbara started their career as an administrative assistant at Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries in 1991 and worked there until 1993. Following that, they joined Monterey Bay Aquarium as a library assistant in 1993 and stayed until 1994. Barbara then moved on to become a research librarian at Aptech Engineering Services from 1994 to 1998. Their most recent role was as the Manager of Library and Scientific Information Services at CCS Associates, which they started in October 1998.
Barbara Gress obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1972 to 1977. Barbara then pursued a Master's degree in Library Science from San Jose State University from 1991 to 1993. Prior to their higher education, Barbara Gress completed high school at Bishop Denis J. O'Connell from 1968 to 1972. In addition, they obtained a certification in Bioinformatics: Life Sciences on Your Computer from Coursera in July 2014.
