Andrew Sands

Andrew Sands is an experienced mining engineer with a diverse background in various roles within the industry. Currently serving as Group Mining Engineer and Open Pit Planning Superintendent at Centamin PLC since April 2019, Andrew has held senior positions at companies including Guyana Goldfields and Endeavour Mining Corporation. Prior experience includes consultancy roles at Barrick Gold Corporation and Pershimco Resources, where Andrew facilitated transitions from project to operating mine and managed short-term planning for wet season preparation. Andrew has also contributed as a Medium Term Planning Engineer at Minera Panama and as TSF Design Manager at Barrick Gold. Education includes a NZ Certificate of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Carrington Unitec, earned between 1982 and 1991. Additionally, Andrew had a successful tenure as Managing Director of Innovation Lamination (NZ) Ltd.
