Carl Laxton

Research Scientist at Centauri Therapeutics

Carl Laxton has over 30 years of work experience in the field of molecular virology. Carl began their career in 1986 as a Scientist at Anglian Biotechnology. Carl then moved to Imperial Cancer Research Fund in 1989 as a Research Assistant. In 1993, they joined Roche Pharmaceuticals Discovery Welwyn as a Research Scientist, where they enabled the discovery of therapeutics for Hepatitis C, B, G and human papilloma virus through cloning and expression of various viral and host proteins involved in viral replication. In 2001, they joined Pfizer as a Principal Scientist and developed extensive molecular and cellular biology technical expertise. Carl also managed multiple concurrent activities to deliver, analyse and critique decision making data within demanding timelines for numerous antiviral and host target projects. In 2012, they joined hVIVO as a Molecular Virologist and was responsible for delivery of decision making qualitative and quantitative molecular assay data during human viral challenge studies. In 2016, they joined Centauri Therapeutics Limited as a Research Scientist.

Carl Laxton attended the University of Kent from 1983 to 1986, where they obtained a BSc. (Hons) in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in the same field.
