Ruben Ortiz

Ruben Ortiz, Ph.D., currently serves as the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Center for Policing Equity, leading large-scale research projects and managing a multidisciplinary team. Previous roles include Senior Data Analyst, where communication of research findings to executive stakeholders resulted in a notable increase in evidence-based strategy adoption, and Social Scientist at the USDA Economic Research Service, focusing on rural economic development. Academic experience includes a position as Research Associate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, developing statistical software training, and serving as Instructor of Record. Ruben Ortiz holds a Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, and Statistics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, along with multiple degrees in Criminal Justice from Bridgewater State University and an Associate's degree from Massasoit Community College. Additionally, a certificate in Design Thinking and Innovation was completed at Harvard Business School Online.
