Sebastian Mellen is the CEO of Cerebrum, a company that provides tools to help scientists keep track of their contributions to large research projects, and license out their data and works to other researchers. Prior to founding Cerebrum, Sebastian was the CEO of Assembl Inc., a company that built tools to help scientists keep track of their work and research history, and license out their work to other researchers.
Sebastian’s goal is to build a global scientific network that gives control of the research process back to scientists. To achieve this goal, Sebastian has developed three products: Assembl Chronos, Assembl Licensor, and Assembl Databeam.
Assembl Chronos is a blockchain-based timestamping system for research data and outputs that creates auditable records of work and research history. Assembl Licensor is a tool which helps scientists license out their work to other researchers using a wide suite of licensing options including Creative Commons and LIRAS licenses. Assembl Databeam is a decentralized data transfer system which helps researchers keep track of who they've shared data with, and generate cryptographically verifiable certificates with a timestamped "proof of sharing" attestation.
By providing scientists with these tools, Sebastian hopes to create a scientific network that is more efficient, transparent, and fair.
Sebastian Mellen has a certification from the Peace Operations Training Institute in UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials. Sebastian also has a certification from 360training in OSHA 30-HR Certified.
Some individuals on their team include Lance Ennen - CTO, Nicolas Diaz - CPO, and Rachel Ennen-Benassi - Project Manager.
