Patrick Cozzi is the current CEO at Cesium and the former lecturer of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Patrick has also worked as a software engineer for The Khronos Group and KittyCAD.
Cozzi is most well-known for their work in graphics programming and architecture. Patrick taught the second-year graduate course, CIS 565: GPU Programming and Architecture, nine times at the University of Pennsylvania. This course is considered the hardest course in the department and has strong ties to industry, especially the WebGL community, Google, NVIDIA, and Microsoft.
In addition to teaching, Cozzi advised a wide array of master thesis, senior design, and independent study projects on topics including open source, spatial data structures, ray tracing, physically-based rendering, image-based lighting, voxels, virtual reality, and glTF. Patrick also supported students in creating valuable open-source projects such as the WebGL 2 Samples Pack and glTF Pipeline.
Cozzi has given various guest lectures on graphics and open source at MIT, Harvard, Drexel, Williams College, and Penn. Patrick's former student and colleague, Shehzan Mohammed, is now teaching CIS 565 and taking it to new heights.
Patrick Cozzi received their MSE in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Patrick also holds a CME from Harvard Business School and a BS in Computer Science from Penn State University.
