Jessica M. Jones

Communications Officer at Charles Stewart Mott Foundation

Jessica Jones joined the staff of the Foundation’s Communications Department in 2014. A California native, she is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Prior to coming to Mott, she spent 14 months as a National Urban Fellow (NUF). NUF is a leadership development program for mid-career professionals that culminates in a Master of Public Administration degree from the City University of New York — Bernard Baruch College. As a fellow, she gained practical experience in the philanthropic sector through a nine-month professional placement at Detroit’s Skillman Foundation. She also has worked as the executive assistant to the president of Los Angeles Southwest College and as a community relations manager for Kroenke Sport Charities, the philanthropic arm of the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche.

In 2018, Jones joined the steering committee of the Africa Grantmakers Affinity Group to offer strategic communications counsel for the group’s work. She enjoys volunteering with programs that empower young people, and she is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., the largest African-American women’s public service organization in the world.
