Head, Centre On Global Health Security at Chatham House

Robert Yates is a seasoned expert in global health policy with extensive experience in universal health coverage (UHC) and health financing reforms. Currently serving as the Head of the Centre on Global Health Security at Chatham House since June 2019, Robert Yates directs the UHC Policy Forum, offering strategic advice to numerous governments, including in Indonesia, India, and South Africa. In addition, Robert Yates holds the position of Honorary Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and works as a Senior Consultant for The Elders Foundation. Previous roles include Senior Health Economist at the World Health Organization, where Robert Yates supported health financing reforms in Asia, and at DFID, where contributions to various health sector reforms across several African countries were made. Robert Yates began their career as a Health Economist for USAID in Mozambique and holds a BA in Economics and Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MBA in Health Management from the University of Leeds.
