Andrea MacLean

Andrea MacLean, APR has extensive experience in communications, marketing, and public relations. Andrea has held various roles throughout their career, including Director of Communications at CHEO, where they are currently employed. Prior to that, they worked as a Professor in the Media & Design Program at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology. Andrea also served in leadership positions at the Royal Ottawa Foundation and The Royal Mental Health Centre.

Andrea has a background in donor communications and marketing, having served as the Director of Donor Communications & Marketing at Bruyère and as the Vice-President of Integrated Marketing, Communications & Impact at the Royal Ottawa Foundation. Andrea has experience in developing marketing strategies, managing brand reputations, and leading innovative campaigns.

During their career, Andrea has also worked in the healthcare industry, including roles at the Bruyère Foundation and the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). At the LHIN, they were a consultant and Regional Director of Communications, responsible for developing and implementing the communications strategy for the implementation of a new electronic patient record system.

Andrea has gained valuable experience in the media and entertainment industry as well. Andrea worked as a Videographer for Celebrity Cruises, Inc. and as a Communications Officer at Corus Entertainment. Andrea also held a role as a Communications Coordinator at TSN - The Sports Network - Canada.

Throughout their career, Andrea has demonstrated their skills in strategic communications, media relations, crisis management, and project management. Andrea has a passion for engaging students and has helped highlight the best and worst of brand reputations in their role as a Professor. Andrea is a skilled communicator and has a strong understanding of public relations, storytelling, and brand reputation management.

Andrea MacLean, APR has a Bachelor's degree in Mass Comm with a focus on Communication and Media Studies from Carleton University. Andrea also has a diploma in Public Relations, Honors, and a diploma in Broadcasting-Television from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology. In 2015, they obtained the Accredited Public Relations Professional (APR) certification from the Canadian Public Relations Society.
