Karen Layton Ma

Karen Layton MA, LCPC, is a dedicated mental health professional currently working as a Mental Health Therapist at Chesapeake Health Care since November 2022. Previously, Karen served as Associate Director and Site & Clinical Supervisor at Balance Point Wellness, LLC from March 2021 to November 2022. Karen has extensive experience in correctional mental health, having worked as a Correctional Mental Health Therapist for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrections from December 2018 to May 2021. Additionally, Karen coordinated an Enhanced Disposition Treatment Program with Eastern Shore Psychological Services, focusing on high-risk youth within the court system. Karen began the career as a Mental Health & Addictions Counselor and has also worked as an Addiction Counselor with Deaf Addiction Services at Maryland. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Gallaudet University and a Bachelor of Science in Deaf Studies from Towson University.
