Mark Ukena has extensive work experience as a photographer, specializing in various fields. Mark started their career in 2001 as the Owner/Photographer of The Mark Photography. In 2008, they worked as a Freelance Photojournalist for the Chicago Sun-Times for six years until 2014. Simultaneously, they worked as a Freelance Photographer for the Chicago Tribune Media Group, Bright I Event Planning & Consulting, and the Rafael Rivera III Annual Memorial Golf Outings. From 2009 to 2012, they worked as a Photographer for The Shanty, where they captured event photography and food stills for the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show. Mark also worked as a Wedding Photographer for Kirk McGee Studios. Additionally, they worked as an Event Photographer for The Merit Club and the Rafael Rivera III 10th Annual Memorial Golf Outing.

Mark Ukena began their education at Warren Township High School, where they earned their diploma in 2001. Following high school, they enrolled at the College of Lake County from 2001 to 2003, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with a focus on Photography. In 2003, they attended the Santa Reparata International School of Art for a year, concentrating on Black and White Photography. Finally, from 2004 to 2007, Mark studied at Columbia College Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography.
