Fiona Murphy

Interim Chief Executive Officer at Children’s Health Ireland

Fiona Murphy has a diverse work experience spanning several roles in the healthcare sector. Fiona'smost recent position is with Children's Health Ireland (CHI) as Deputy CEO and Operations Director, starting in December 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Bon Secours Health System Ireland as Director of Nursing from June 2017 to December 2022. Before that, Fiona worked at St. James's Hospital Dublin for many years, holding various positions such as Assistant Director of Nursing in Human Resources, Surgery, Anaesthesia, and Critical Care. Fiona also served as an Interim Operations Manager and Clinical Nurse Manager. Fiona began their career as a Staff Nurse at Waterford Regional Hospital in 1991 and later worked at The Meath Hospital before joining St. James's Hospital.

Fiona Murphy completed their education with a Bachelor in Nursing Studies from Trinity College Dublin in 2000. Prior to that, they underwent General Nurse Training at Waterford Regional Hospital from 1991 to 1994. Fiona also obtained a Certificate in Theatre Nursing from St. James's Hospital Dublin in 1997, and they became a Registered General Nurse in 1994 through the NMBI. Later, they pursued further education, earning a Leadership Development Programme from HSE, The Beeches Management Centre, Centre for Creative Leadership between 2004 and 2006. Moreover, Fiona obtained a Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare from The Royal College of Physicians in Ireland in 2013, and lastly, an MSc in Leadership with a specialization in Leadership and Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) between 2015 and 2017.
