Emily Virgin is a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden since July 2022. Previously, Emily completed a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Utah State University, where research focused on urbanization and maternal provisioning in desert reptiles from July 2016 to June 2022. Prior experience includes serving as an Undergraduate Researcher at Northern Illinois University, investigating dietary preferences in snake species under the guidance of Dr. Rich King, and participating in an Animal Behavior REU Internship at Indiana University Bloomington, studying the link between mass and immunocompetence in tree swallow nestlings with Dr. Kimberly Rosvall. Emily holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Ecology from Northern Illinois University, completed in May 2016.
